PRE-EMPLOYMENT
Complying with company policy the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Mines Health and Safety Act, we ensure that each employee is physically and mentally fit for the position as described by the job description/job profile of the role.
PERIODIC
Risk-based periodic examinations form the backbone of medical surveillance where we ensure the early detection, management and reporting of occupational conditions and diseases. The outcome of all studies is conveyed to the company by means of a uniquely referenced certificate of fitness that will also contain information about workplace restrictions and possible additional instructions to the company to ensure the prevention of occupational diseases.
EXIT
We conduct exit medical examinations to ensure that employees did not fall ill as a result of the working conditions. This essential examination often informs the advice we give to top management regarding the health and safety policies in place. All records are stored in hard copy and on our virtual online warehouse as per legal requirements.
MISC
Other medical examinations include pre- and post-maternity evaluations in the workplace and the follow up of chronic conditions. We also do medical assessment after prolonged absence for health reasons, transfer medical assessments, special investigations and biological monitoring of specific hazards, biological screening tests and absenteeism evaluations.

MEDICAL SCREENING VERSUS MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE
Medical surveillance is the systematic assessment of employees exposed or potentially exposed to occupational hazards. This assessment monitors individuals for adverse health effects and determines the effectiveness of exposure prevention strategies.
Medical screening is, in essence, only one component of a comprehensive medical surveillance program.
The fundamental purpose of screening is early diagnosis and treatment of the individual and thus has a clinical focus. The fundamental purpose of surveillance is to detect and eliminate the underlying causes such as hazards or exposures of any discovered trends and thus has a prevention focus. Both can contribute significantly to the success of worksite health and safety programs.
The results of the medical examinations that we perform are captured in our online medical surveillance program that allows us to implement a detailed medical surveillance system for all our clients.
This allow for the prevention and early detection, reporting and notification to the company of occupational conditions and diseases.
